Better Materials
The Outer Banks is predominately a Rental Home Market where people tend to abuse rental homes like they abuse rental cars! Knowing that, we design, engineer and manufacture all our cabinets to commercial quality standards.
We use 3/4" material for all cabinet construction, compared to 1/2" or even 1/4" material used in most "Factory" cabinets. We even put 3/4" backs in our cabinets which is unheard of in this industry, but very important because it's the strength of the cabinet back that determines whether the cabinet will last only 5 years or 25 years in a rental home.
Another area we pay special attention to is drawers. We use high quality dovetail drawers with Blum commercial quality full extension, soft close slides rated for 100 lbs to ensure many years of use in a punishing rental market.
Sometimes it’s the hidden materials you can’t see that make the difference. For instance, we use Pine for kick bases rather than particle board, which most other cabinet manufacturers use. We do this because for many kitchens it is only a matter of time before there is a water problem; either the dishwasher, ice-maker, refrigerator or sink plumbing springs a leak, and when it does our competitors particle board kicks will soak up the water like a sponge and then crumble, usually with a 800 lb granite counter-top helping the process. Our Pine kicks are impervious to water leaks, saving you money and aggravation when you need it most.
